Terms of engagement.
At The Total Wealth Makeover, our goal is to provide a supportive and empowering environment to help you achieve your personal and professional goals. To ensure a productive and respectful coaching relationship, we have established the following rules of engagement and guidelines.
Rules of Engagement
Commitment and Participation:
Clients are expected to actively participate in coaching sessions and complete any agreed-upon assignments or actions between sessions.
Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for the effectiveness of the coaching process.
Confidentiality:
All information shared during coaching sessions is confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties without the client's consent, except as required by law.
Clients should feel safe and secure in sharing personal information, knowing it will be handled with the utmost respect and confidentiality.
Communication:
Open and honest communication is vital for a successful coaching relationship. Clients are encouraged to provide feedback and express any concerns or needs they may have.
Clients should inform their coach of any significant changes or events that may impact their coaching process.
Respect and Professionalism:
Mutual respect is a cornerstone of our coaching practice. Both clients and coaches are expected to treat each other with respect and professionalism at all times.
Discriminatory, abusive, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in the termination of the coaching relationship.
Boundaries and Limits:
Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, medical treatment, or psychological counseling. The coaching process focuses on setting and achieving goals, personal development, and problem-solving.
Coaches are not responsible for the success or failure of the client.
Coaches will maintain clear boundaries and will refer clients to appropriate professionals when issues fall outside the scope of coaching.
Grounds for Referral to a Psychologist or Counselor
While coaching can address a wide range of personal and professional issues, there are times when a referral to a psychologist or counselor is necessary. The following situations may warrant such a referral:
Mental Health Concerns:
Symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other mental health disorders that significantly impair daily functioning.
Signs of suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or harm to others.
Trauma and Abuse:
Experiences of trauma, abuse, or significant emotional distress that require specialized therapeutic intervention.
Substance Abuse:
Issues related to substance abuse or addiction that require professional treatment and support.
Unresolved Psychological Issues:
Persistent psychological issues that hinder the coaching process and need in-depth therapeutic work.
Medical or Psychiatric Conditions:
Medical or psychiatric conditions that necessitate intervention by a licensed healthcare provider.
Referral Process
If, during the course of the coaching engagement, it becomes apparent that a referral to a psychologist or counselor is in the client's best interest, the following steps will be taken:
Assessment:
The coach will assess the situation and discuss the need for a referral with the client in a supportive and respectful manner.
Referral:
The coach will provide information and resources to help the client find an appropriate psychologist or counselor.
With the client's consent, the coach may collaborate with the referred professional to ensure a coordinated approach to the client's well-being.
Follow-Up:
The coach will maintain communication with the client to support their transition and ensure continuity of care.
By adhering to these rules of engagement and guidelines for referrals, we aim to provide a safe, respectful, and effective coaching experience that prioritizes the well-being and growth of our clients.
